With a reputation built on the quality of care provided by our nurses, New Care is the premier medically intensive home care provider in Western Washington.

Our nurses dedicate themselves to fulfilling the rigorous duties required by medically intensive home health care. They have mastered the art of professional compassion. Each New Care nurse provides exceptional care in your home, but also acts as an advocate for your loved one. With the appropriate conditions, they can accompany you to doctor visits and other trips out of the home to make sure your family member accesses the care he/she needs at all times.

All of our nurses are licensed RNs and LPNs and trained specifically on your medical equipment. In fact, we have a training program in place to keep our nurses up-to-date on technical advances to the equipment. Many have special knowledge and talents they have honed throughout their careers, and we match their skills to your needs when staffing. They thrive on working independently, making educated decisions about how to provide your loved one's care on an on-going basis.

We thoroughly interview and screen our nurses, performing background checks to ensure that the providers in your home are both safe and qualified. Prior to working solo on a medically intensive case, nurses receive client-specific training to provide them with the knowledge needed to care for your loved one. New Care employees are fully insured.

New Care trains, orients, and educates staff regarding JCAHO, state, and federal regulations. To encourage continuing education for our nurses, we offer tuition reimbursement and scholarship programs. Each nurse is strongly encouraged to obtain 20 or more continuing education hours each year.

Nursing Team's Perspective

We feel comfortable in May's home. The attitudes (both verbal and actions) of our client and family show that there is mutual respect between the client and the nurses. This family sees the staff of nurses not as an inconvenience, but as a blessing. The family treats us as though we are an extension of the family. The family provides the nursing staff with good working conditions. We have open communication between the nurses, the client, and the family.

The first priority of our case is May's care. We treat and respond to our fellow nurses as we individually would like to be treated. It is absolutely understood that we are all human. We understand that even the best "super" nurse can forget things on occasion or overlook something that needs to be done. There is no finger pointing or blame used in making corrections.

We feel complete support from our co-workers. Regardless of our titles/positions on the case or longevity with the client, we strive as a team. Sometimes we squeak, but we generally function well. If one of our staff has a personal emergency, that particular person knows that all of us will cover the shifts until that staff member is able to return to work. The support is always there. We have a very active communication book. We communicate. The communication book is not used as punishment. We always leave the case looking as we found it. All of us do our jobs and then some. Foremost, we are work mates, peers, and friends. Everyone tries to see the other person's side before jumping to conclusions.

Our team leader provides us with positive feedback. A great deal of credit goes to Kathy and her management skills. She is thoughtful and considerate regarding the needs of the nurses. She is always open and receptive to the needs or problems expressed. Kathy is trustworthy. If you confide in her, you know that it will remain private. When it comes to a problem or potential problem, Kathy usually straightens it out one-on-one. The other staff nurses don't know about the problem, as it should be. She has the trust and respect of her staff. Kathy tells the staff not only what can be improved, but also what is correct.

Kathy has a philosophy of guiding our team from behind. Although she may be our leader, Kathy really is a team member working for the same goal. She never points a finger when someone goofs. Kathy mentions the goof in the communication book and how the problem should be handled differently. No names are ever mentioned. Kathy will work any shift. She expects each nurse to occasionally do the same. Kathy never expects her team to do what she would not do. Kathy was trained on teamwork, and from the time a nurse sets foot on the premises, Kathy lets that nurse know what is expected. There have been a few nurses who didn't function as good team members, which created a problem not only for the staff, but also for the client. Needless to say, these people no longer work on this team.
